DH98 Mosquito -
Wings:
After stripping off the Oracover balsa sheet was glued in postion with CA formng a complete covering. After sanding down and masking off the areas and items I didnt want covering with resin I glassed both sides of the wing with Glass Fibre cloth and finishing resin -
With all of the wings covered the nacelles where trimmed and fitted and aligned with the propellors. I decided at this point to fix both halves of the nacelle together as the lower portion coming loose was partly responsible for the crash. The joint was reinforced with carbon cloth and resin and the seam filled in, the plastic moulding for the radiator intakes where also filled and glassed in position, these wont come off again either!!-
After much sanding, filling and more sanding primer was applied -
The jointed nacelles are now fixed in place with six plastic angle brackets securely fixed to the underside of the wing and to the nacelles with small self tapping screws
Next panel lines were drawn on using pencil and a flexible rule. There are not many panel lines on the Mosquito as the structure is wooden. Fine drafting tape was then positioned on all lines -
Rivets were then applied with wood glue and a syringe, again there are not many rivets on a Mosquito due to its construction
Several coats of primer were then applied concentrating on the panel lines and rivets -
Once dried the drafting tape is carefully removed to reveal the completed panel lines -
