| DH98 Mosquito -
Crash: |
| After a few succesful flights I crashed on landing approach. The nacelle fixing of the kit is not particularly good and the lower half of the nacelle had come loose which proved enough to distract me and I caught the long grass at the side of the runway. Most of the damage was to the right wing with the motor nacelle ripped off and the end of the wing crushed, the main spar was also damaged - |
| All of the Oracover was removed from the wing as it was not possible to do the repair with it in place. The Nacelle was first carefully placed back in position and re-aligned to make sure everything was straight. 1.5mm ply bearers where then used as a sandwich to reinforce where the break had taken place - |
| The other damaged areas where cut back and pieces let in - |
As the covering had been removed off the wing I decided at this point to cover the wing using Balsa sheet and glass fibre. This would give me the opportunity to add details and paint in a different scheme to the original model |
